The Window is Closing

26 July 2016

"Mom, my friends and I have been talking a lot lately about the future and how we aren't going to be able to afford to buy a home in Toronto when we're ready," said my fourteen year old daughter last month. She's right I'm afraid.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you are well aware that we have been experiencing a strong sellers market in Toronto for quite a few years now. This year things have gone to a whole new level, with inventory at an all-time low and buyers still clamouring for properties, it has gotten insanely competitive out there. Prices are rising, and buyers are finding themselves priced out of the market within months of the start of their search.

If you are thinking of a move and are hoping to find a freehold home in Toronto, but you are putting it off until the fall, or the spring, or when the baby comes, or maybe when your little one outgrows their tiny condo bedroom, our advice to you is clear: ACT NOW. If you wait any longer, you may not be able to achieve your goal of home ownership in Toronto. You just may have to make a move to the 905 or Hamilton (which is actually getting more and more expensive as we type this) in order to buy that home you dream of. We are a city headed toward creative home ownership, like multiple families under one roof as the prices rise beyond the reach of average buyers.

Don't miss your window. It's closing.

The good news though is that it's July and we've seen a few "bargains" the last couple of weeks while some buyers are snoozing. Ask us for details.
